Here, we answer frequently asked questions from tenants about our services, the lease agreement, and your home—quickly, clearly, and straight to the point.
Living Together in the Neighborhood
Yes. The WGL organizes various events in the neighborhoods. Information about dates and activities will be provided in a timely manner via the Meine WGL-App .
The City of Leverkusen’s website lists numerous offerings for various target groups under the “Leverkusen Family Guide” section. These can be easily filtered by topic, age group, and neighborhood.
Are there designated contact persons in the neighborhood?
Yes. The staff at the neighborhood community centers are particularly well-suited for this. They know the neighborhood very well, are open to all residents, and can help with many issues.
In addition, the community centers offer a wide range of informational and participatory opportunities, which can be found on their respective websites.
- Wiesdorf Community Center
- FreiRaum Alkenrath – Social Welfare Organization of the Evangelical Church District of Leverkusen
- Manfort Neighborhood Center – Social Welfare Organization of the Protestant Church District of Leverkusen

WGL ensures proper waste separation by providing numerous waste collection areas—some of which are lockable—near the residential buildings.
When it comes to safety, factors such as lighting, locked front doors, fire safety, burglary prevention, and accident prevention play a crucial role.
In addition, our building superintendents conduct regular inspections and promptly address any reported issues. Through the Meine WGL-App , tenants can quickly and easily send us their feedback.
WGL has launched a neighborhood support program to encourage tenant involvement. To this end, WGL provides 2.00 euros per year for each rental unit.
Have you always wanted to make a difference in your neighborhood and get involved? Start planning your own project with the support of QuartiersMacher.
Through its neighborhood outreach work, WGL has built up a well-functioning network. This includes, among others, local stakeholders such as social service providers and organizations, counseling centers, sports and cultural clubs, daycare centers, and schools.
You can learn more about our partners here.
Donations and Sponsorship
The WGL has chosen to focus on regional support for youth programs in the areas of sports, the arts, culture, education, and social services. By supporting young people in Leverkusen, the WGL helps foster the independence and education of children and adolescents, with the goal of helping them develop into responsible individuals capable of contributing to the community.
In particular, the WGL focuses on supporting children from socially disadvantaged families so that they, too, can experience a sense of community, belonging, and support.
Although youth work is the primary focus, selected projects that assist people in need or promote and preserve regional traditions will continue to receive support.
A successful request for a donation or sponsorship should ideally include the name of the organization and the name of a specific contact person. The project for which support is being sought should be described briefly and concisely so that the purpose of the funding is clearly understood.
It is also helpful to specify a specific donation or sponsorship amount. Finally, you should include the bank account details to which the financial support can be transferred.
Since WGL is a subsidiary of the City of Leverkusen and offers housing exclusively within the city limits of Leverkusen, we are particularly committed to supporting only social organizations, institutions, or projects in Leverkusen or those with ties to the Leverkusen region.
Requests for donations or sponsorship should be sent via email to Ms. Mayhack at mayhack@wgl-lev.de along with our application form. If you have any further questions, please contact Ms. Mayhack at 0214 384 42.

Our selection process consists of two rounds featuring different interviews and tasks. If you successfully complete both stages of the application process, we’ll invite you to a “warm-up” day after you sign your contract and before your training begins. On this day, you’ll have the opportunity to meet all of the WGL trainees.
On August 1, we look forward to welcoming you as you begin your training with us.
During your apprenticeship at WGL, you’ll gain comprehensive insight into nearly all areas of the housing industry. Among other things, you’ll work in the departments of property management, third-party management, commercial real estate, sales, real estate and insurance, financial and rental accounting, new construction, and maintenance and modernization.
In addition, you'll gain insights into related fields such as IT, horticulture, and WGL Service GmbH.
The tasks during the training program are varied and hands-on. You will meet with tenants, property owners, contractors, and government agencies; assist with renovation and new construction projects; and take on responsibilities in commercial management and oversight as well as property management. You will also actively participate in exciting trainee projects.
Classes are held in one-week blocks once a month, except during school holidays.
